On 15-17 November 2023, Charge d’Affaires a.i. and Deputy Permanent Representative to UNESCAP Dr Jean-Pierre Verbiest attended the Seventh Asian and Pacific population conference jointly organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

It was attended by over 400 government officials and representatives of civil society and youth groups. The Conference provided a vital forum for forging and strengthening partnerships across the region in the field of population and development. The Asia-Pacific region comprised more than 60 per cent of the world’s population.

The conference was chaired by Mr Varawut Silpa-Archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand.
