Between 26-28 June 2025, Charge d’Affaires a.i. Dr Jean-Pierre A. Verbiest participated in a study visit for Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Spouses under the theme “Weaving Towards Sustainability” to Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom provinces of the Northeast of Thailand. On the first day, the numerous activities of the Puparn Royal Development Study Center, a Royal initiative project by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great were visited. It was followed by a visit to the Ban Don Koi Indigo Dyeing Learning Centre, a “sustainable Fashion” model community development project under the initiative of HRH Princess Sirivannari Rajakanya. On the second day, a briefing was provided on “Nakhon Phanom- History and Development from Present and Future Cultural Perspectives”. It was followed by a detailed visit of the famous Wat Phra That Phanom temple. The day concluded with a dinner hosted by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with an exclusive fashion show featuring clothing and accessories from handwoven textiles designed and tailored by local communities.
